We Remember

Room In The Inn believes that everyone deserves dignity in life as well as in death. In remembering those in our community who have passed away, our basic affirmation is this: regardless of the circumstances of life any of us may experience, all people are equal in worth. We hold in memory our beloved dead while working with urgency for a world in which every person is known, safe, and loved.

Memorial Tree

The trees that stand in our building bear the names of hundreds of members of the Room In The Inn community who have died since our founding in 1986. Each leaf is handmade with love and each person added to the tree is remembered in a monthly memorial service held in our chapel.
Trees represent the gift of community. Each leaf celebrates a person whose life mattered. Every name represents someone with gifts, dreams, and a unique story. Each made an impact on the world around them.

Call the Name

Call the Name is an effort to ensure that someone is always present to remember neighbors who are served through our city’s Indigent Burial Program at the Hills of Calvary Memorial Park. Call the Name volunteers offer a ministry of presence and prayer at the burials of each person laid to rest through this program. Each person, even in death, is no longer alone but claimed with love as one of our neighbors and part of our community.

We All Have a Story

The crisis of homelessness is the crisis of death. Each year, we lose neighbors whose lives have been shorted by their experience of being unhoused. We invite you to join us in remembering the stories of some of the people we have known and loved.
