Winter Storm

Winter Storm Response Updates

Room In The Inn Update: January 26, 2026

Room In The Inn continues to coordinate services with our community partners in response to the ice storm impacting the Nashville area.

Our plan is to expand our services each day until we are back to normal operations.

We are deeply grateful for our staff and volunteers who worked to ensure people had a safe place to be today, and for all who have supported this work through generosity and prayer.

Most of all, we give thanks for the grace and patience shown by the people we serve during these difficult conditions.

If you have resources you would like to share—such as a congregation building that is currently unused, or a service you can offer now or in the future—please email info@roomintheinn.org. Our team will help triage and coordinate so support is used where it is most needed.

If you would like to bring or send supplies, please contact us first via email at info@roomintheinn.org so we can help identify the best and safest way for your gifts to be utilized. Coordinated efforts allow us to better care for our unhoused neighbors and avoid gaps or duplication during this emergency response.

Services for Tuesday, January 27

We urge people who are in a warm, safe place to remain where they are, if at all possible.

Daytime Services

Our Day Center will be open 8:00 A.M. – 4:00 P.M.

Services offered will be extremely limited, with our priority being providing safe, indoor shelter.

Showers will be available 8:00-11:00 A.M.

Lunch will be served to those with tickets.

Evening Shelter

Because many of our congregations do not have power and volunteers are unable to travel, our Winter Shelter Program is operating with a reduced capacity. Only those who currently have a good ticket will be able to be accommodated. Please seek shelter at the Nashville Rescue Mission or the Metro Overflow Shelter.  As the week progresses we anticipate being able to add to our capacity.

Room In The Inn Update: January 25, 2026

As we begin to grapple with the impact of the ice storm, we are responding in close coordination with our partners, including the Nashville Rescue Mission and Metro Government, especially the Office of Homeless Services, sharing resources and remaining flexible as needs emerge. This is not business as usual.

Our community is currently in a state of emergency, and unhoused neighbors are being asked to shelter in place. We are working to meet urgent needs while creating a safe, calm, and stable environment during this critical time. We have lowered as many barriers as possible and are focused on being a steady presence for those we serve.

Whatever you may be feeling today—uncertainty, concern, urgency—our unhoused neighbors experience these realities every day. In moments like this, we take care of one another, especially those neighbors who are vulnerable or elderly. We all need each other.

Please continue to watch our social media channels for updates as conditions evolve.
